Mary Louise Luckman Duhart, a lifelong resident of San Antonio, born August 23, 1917 to Earl Fuller and Eloise Ochse Fuller, entered into eternal rest Friday, February 1, 2002. A graduate of Brackenridge High School, she attended the University of Texas, was a member Phi Mu National Sorority, and a graduate of Incarnate Word College. Mrs. Duhart was a teacher, a buyer for Scrivener's, and active as a member of Christ Lutheran Church for over 40 years. She enjoyed fashion very much and planned and commentated many shows over the years for various clubs and organizations. Her love of flowers and gardens led her to become involved both as President of the Dirt Dauber Garden Club and as President and Life Member of the San Antonio Garden Center, and State and National Garden Clubs. She spent endless hours helping to start and support the San Antonio Botanical Center from its very beginning. As a board member, she helped to raise funds for the "Garden for the Blind", and also served for 12 years as Coordinator of the Docent Program. These were just some of the ways that she supported the Botanical Center. Other leadership roles within the city were as a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Medical Museum Board, President of the Philia Study Club, long time member of the Council of International Relations, and the "K" Supper Club. She served on the Mayor's Commission for the Status of Women, was the Express-News Woman of the Year in 1969 and kept her military connections through the Medical Field Service School Wives Club and traveled frequently with friends and family throughout the world. Above all she cherished family, friends, her church and community. Survivors include her daughter, Anita Louise Preston Schaezler; son-in-law, Chris Schaezler of Dallas; grandson, Brian Schaezler, his wife, Lynn and great grandson, Keith of St. Louis and grandson, Scott Schaezler of Denver, CO.
