

Mary Lorraine (Miller) Eklund, beloved widow, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, died April 18, 2012 at the North Austin Medical Center after three months battling a series of illnesses. Mary Eklund was born in San Antonio, Texas and was graduated from St. Gerard’s High School in 1942.
Mary married 2LT Robert G. Eklund on September 8, 1945. Mary established and maintained a loving home in numerous duty stations over the next 32 years of Col. Eklund’s active duty. Upon his retirement they established a long-term residence in Universal City, Texas. Mrs. Eklund was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Eklund, COL, USAF (Ret), her parents, Patrick A. Miller and Mary (Mamie) L. (Eidson) Miller, her sister M. Cecilia (Miller) Meiser, and her grandson, Barton C. Sholl.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Rebecca A. Eklund (husband Capt. Donald H. Butler, TDCJ OIG) of Round Rock, TX, Elaine M. Penney (husband K. Bryce Penney) of Colorado Springs, CO, her sons, Robert G. Eklund, Jr. (wife Carol M. Baker Eklund) of Austin TX, James E. Eklund (wife Amelia Johanna Sielbeck) of Buda, TX, and Richard L. Eklund (wife JoAnn Brannan Eklund) of Austin, TX, her grandchildren Brennan W. Penney of Burbank, CA, Brennan L. Eklund of Leander, TX, Nissa E. Baker (husband Michael Baker) of Denver, CO, Reed E. Penney of Austin, TX, Robert G. EKlund, III of Austin, TX, and Carrie C. Eklund of Austin, TX, and her great granddaughters Isla Baker of Denver, CO, and Hazel Baker of Denver, CO.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
