Mary Ann Ridgeway Freeman was born on April 28, 1932, to Chester and Mary Elizabeth (Novak) Ridgeway. When she was three the family moved from Illinois to Tucson, Arizona. When she was 17, a dashing young airman named Fred Freeman came into the department store where she had an after school job at the candy counter. It was love at first sight and they were together until Fred passed away in 2009. After their wedding in 1953, they traveled the world with the Air Force, living in Florida, California, Alaska, England and South Carolina before settling down to raise their family in Orlando. Although Mary Ann – or Marcy as Fred loved to call her – was proud of her accomplishments as a Registered Nurse her greatest love was her family. Nothing made her happier than to make a wonderful home for her husband and children. She always said it made her happy to cook, clean, iron, drive carpool, and all of the things that made her a super mom. She loved to read, travel (especially to Vegas!), put together enormous jigsaw puzzles, and to play bingo. Mary Ann loved animals and was so attached to the dogs she loved through her life: Tucky, Lady and Candy. The greatest love that Mary Ann and Fred shared was for their children: Theodore (and Karen) Freeman, Scott (and Pam) Freeman, Lisa Freeman Schutz, Ken (and Kara) Freeman, Sandy (and John) Wozniak; their grandchildren: Kathryn (and Jon) Schmidt, Michelle (and Collin) Teakell, Jeannine Freeman, Jason Freeman, Danny (and Rachel) Freeman, Andy (and Miranda) Freeman, Beth Freeman, Brandon Schutz, Amy Schutz, Monica Schutz, Dayna (and Tom) Meyer, Kayla Freeman, David Wozniak, Brian Wozniak; and their great-grandchildren Adam Freeman, Jacob Freeman, Clark Teakell, Nathan Schmidt, Abigail Schmidt, and Haley Teakell. In her final years she was blessed with her loving caregivers Vanissa and Eula. Mary Ann is also survived by her beloved sister Alice Kemmeries. She is preceded in death by her husband Fred Monroe Freeman and their two infant sons, Larry and Ronald. Arrangements under the direction of Sunset North Funeral Home, San Antonio, TX.
