

Mary Elizabeth Clemons Haecker age 87 went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Oliver (Ollie), parents Harold and Margaret Clemons. She is survived by her children Carol and Joe Van De Walle, of San Antonio, Stephen and Antonette Haecker of Austin and Robin and Doug Green of San Antonio and 4 grandchildren, Jeff and Krystyn Haecker and Stephanie and Kevin Green.
Mary was a resident of San Antonio all of her life. She attended Fannin Elementary School, Poe Middle School and Brackenridge High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Purple Jackets at Brackenridge. After graduation she worked for Fox Studios. She & Ollie were married at St. Gerard Catholic Church shortly after his return from Service in World War II. In later years they enjoyed attending 96th Infantry Division reunions held all over the US.
She loved cooking and sewing and caring for her family. She was a founding member of St. Benedict’s Parish in 1959. She loved attending monthly dances with the St. Benedict and St. Gerard Double Ring Society. She was a member of the Highland Social Club and Martinez Social Club, where she enjoyed bowling with Ollie. They were also frequent participants in prize bowling at 9 pin bowling clubs in the rural San Antonio area. Mary was an assistant leader for Girl Scouts, a Royals Booster and often home room Mother. She was a sports fan and loved following her children and grandchildren teams as well as the Spurs.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Emeritus at Kinglsey Place for their care and service while Mary was resident there.
Visitation will be 5:30 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 4535 Lord Rd., San Antonio, TX 78220. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
