Mary lived a life stitched together with love, patience, and devotion. From the time she was a young girl, sewing became not just a skill, but a calling placed in her heart by her mother. Her hands were rarely still, every thread she guided carried her warmth, her talent, and her pride. She spent many years working in sewing factories throughout San Antonio before finding her place at Frost Brothers department store in Northstar Mall, where she devoted a decade of her life to perfecting her craft.
Even after retirement, Mary continued doing what she loved most sewing at home for family, friends, and anyone who needed her gentle touch. At eighty-nine, she was still creating, still giving, still pouring love into every stitch.
Mary also found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved the excitement of visiting casinos, the laughter shared during games of lotería, and the treasured moments spent surrounded by the people she cherished most. Her spirit was steady, joyful, and full of heart.
Mary is preceded in death by her loving parents, Miguel and Josefina Gonzales; her devoted husband, Eduardo Herrera; and her siblings Emiliano (Beatrice) Gonzales, Miguel (Paulita) Gonzales, Rosa (Simon) Perez, and Eloisa (Pete) Roque.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength through her children: Josephine (Alexei) Grigorian, Eduardo (Deborah) Herrera Jr., Laura (Rudy) Espinoza, Norma (Jeff) Grobman, and Ruben Herrera. She is also survived by her siblings: Beatrice Cortez, Joe (Peggy) Gonzales, Ermelinda (Steve) Wyles, Jesse (Santa) Gonzales, and Robert (Debby) Gonzales.
Mary’s pride and joy were her grandchildren: Manuel III, Yvette, Nicole, Rudy Jr., Kathryn, Sara, Richard Jr., Eduardo III, Tyler, Lauren, Ruben Jr., and Aubrey, and her great-grandchildren: Manuel IV, Victoria, Brianna, Bella, Mya, Michael, Ellie, Ethan, Cali, Rudy III, Isaac, Iris, Sandford, and Sophia. Every one of them carries a piece of her heart.
Mary’s life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, and the beauty of creating something meaningful with one’s hands. She will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle strength, and the love she gave so freely. Her memory will continue to guide and comfort all who were blessed to know her.
