

Mary Dunham Hester, age 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2013.
She was a very spiritual lady and devout in her faith.
She retired from a long and distinguished career with Civil Service at Fort Sam Houston. She was an avid and insatiable reader and had a passion for cooking.
In her lifetime she was involved in numerous church activities and also was active in various organizations including Eastern Star, Daughter of the Nile, the Women's Transportation Club, Cosmopolitan Music Club and Council of Presidents.
Her involvement with all organizations was always discerning and encouraging, including a smile; she never met a stranger.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillian Dunham and her sister, Inez Sievers and brother, Bernard Clayton Dunham.
She is survived by her beloved children: Joseph Bernard Hester and wife, Karen; and Martha Ann McCracken; grandchildren: Kara Lynn Hester, Timothy Joseph Cobb and his wife, Mary Colleen Cobb; and Clayton Bernard McCracken; great-grandchildren, Pearse Cobb and Vivienne Cobb; her dear niece, Louise Curry and husband, Winstor and their family; along with numerous friends and neighbors.
