Mary Katherine Johnson

Mary Katherine Johnson, affectionately known as Kat, age 57, passed away on August 20, 2024. A beloved wife, stepmother, sister, and friend, Kat was born on September 13, 1966, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jesse and Rosaura Plata.

Kat graduated from Fox Tech High School and dedicated over 25 years to a successful career in the financial industry. Her passion for travel and cruises brought her great joy, often shared with her husband, Richard, and close friends. She had a deep love for the water, which was a source of immense happiness for her.

Kat is survived by her husband, Richard Johnson; stepson Shawn Johnson (Lorena) and step-grandson Marvin; sisters Lorraine Plata Salas and Jessica Plata Gamez; brother Joseph Ortiz; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and her beloved pups, Skooter and Klaus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Rosaura Plata; her grandmother, Hope Zorola; and her sister Patricia Plata.

A Memorial Mass will be held in her honor on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes, Texas at 13715 Riggs Rd. Helotes TX 78023.

Kat will be deeply missed but remembered with love and affection by all who knew her.
