October 15, 1942 – March 25, 2020
Mary Evelyn Lambert, age 77, passed away at her home on March 25, 2020. Her initials gave her the nickname of MEL, which she was always called by family and friends.
Mel went to Copernicus Community Center in San Antonio in the '70s. She participated in several Special Olympic games where she won several medals mostly for bowling.
Mel was attending Our Place Adult Daycare for the last 14 years. The staff there was excellent and always looked for ways to engage with their clients. Mel made a habit of walking around to all of her friends to say hello & give hugs. She was quite the social butterfly. She enjoyed activities such as arts and crafts, birthday parties, celebrating the holidays, playing dress-up, and participating in the costume contests. Mel won many of those costume contests, and received several trophies that made her very proud.
Mel also adored animals of all kinds; cows, horses, dogs and she especially loved kittens. She had a great love for young children and babies. Her natural instinct after seeing a baby would be a desire to hold it. She was also curious as to how old, the gender, and of course knowing the baby's name. She did not know any strangers and will be forever cherished in our hearts.
Mel was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Harry Lambert, Jr. and Mercedes Albreckt Lambert. She is survived by her sister, Shirley Lambert Padalecki, nephews Paul Dean Padalecki, Michael Lambert Padalecki, his wife, Danielle, and a great- nephew Bruce Lambert Padalecki, several cousins, and two uncles.
Mel will be laid to rest with her parents at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
