Mary Angela Martinez

Mary Angela Martinez Rodriguez, lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas and 8th generation Texan passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022, at age 85. She was born on May 27, 1937, to parents, Cruz Carmen Garza and Juan Felipe Martinez. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and then received her Bachelor Degree from Incarnate Word College in 1959. Mary Angela became an elementary teacher for SAISD and an ESL teacher for elementary students in 1976, where she remained a devoted employee for more than 30 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucile Dalkowitz; and husband, Enrique “Henry” Rodriguez. Mary Angela is survived by her children, Angela Clark (David), Teresa “Pam” Ryan (Vince), and Marc Rodriguez (Debbie); grandchildren, Ciara Clark; Colton Clark; Andrew Ryan; Reed Ryan; Colin Ryan; Isabella Rodriguez; and Nicolas Rodriguez. In addition to her family and friends, she leaves behind hundreds of students who lives were impacted by the gift of learning to read.
