Mary Rose Tarrillion Meurer

Mary Rose graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School in downtown San Antonio in 1945 and from Our Lady of the Lake College in 1949 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She met Anthony B. "Tony" Meurer at a business fraternity function while in college and they were married on September 1, 1951. Their marriage would last for over 62 years until Tony's death at the end of 2013. She and Tony were blessed with 6 children and Mary Rose's children were her life. She was an integral part of their activities and education, serving in various capacities as a volunteer in many schools and sports organizations. She greatly valued education, and was very proud of the fact that she and Tony were able to send all 6 children to Catholic grade school and high schools in San Antonio, sent all 6 children to college, and one son to medical school and their daughter to law school.

Mary Rose loved to travel, and she and Tony took many, many trips together with the kids, and after the children were grown. She also loved the game of bridge and enjoyed her monthly gatherings with her friends. She was a lifelong Catholic and long-time parishioner at Holy Rosary Parish.

Mary Rose is survived by sons and daughters-in-law James A. and Laurie Meurer, Naperville, IL, Patrick J. and Charlotte Meurer, Houston, Edward T. and Joyce Meurer, San Antonio, Charles D. and Stephanie Meurer, Houston, Dr. Michael F. and Michelle Meurer, Kansas City, MO; daughter and son-in-law Carol J. and Steven Konetzke, San Antonio; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kim Heller and staff for many years of wonderful care, and to Elizabeth de la Rosa and the staff of Moss Oak Place, especially caregiver Martha Ayala in this final year.
