Mary Jo Meyer went to be with our Lord when she passed away peacefully on February 18, 2016 at the age of 85 in San Antonio. Mary was born to John Joseph Thomas Meyer and Madge Mildred Stovall Meyer on July 14, 1930, who preceded her death. She was a lifelong resident of the South Side of San Antonio.
Her father was a long time member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church and her mother was a long time member of Travis Park United Methodist Church. Mary shared in her spiritual upbringing and was a lifelong member of Travis Park United Methodist Church until her health would no longer allow for her to attend services.
Mary graduated from Burbank High School and immediately went to work for them and give back to her community as the school secretary, a position which she held for 50 years until her retirement. In her younger years, she loved to tap dance, and did so with the USO for the troops at Lackland AFB, Kelly AFB, Fort Sam Houston, and the Downtown USO.
Miss Meyer was preceded in death by her loving parents and her favorite Persian cat and companion, Boots. Mary Jo is survived by her cousin, John Graham and his wife, Rosemary, of Tow, Texas, and great friends and neighbors, Jesse and Susie Estrada and his family. She often spent Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas with the Estradas and their family sharing stories and creating memories with her adoptive family. She will be truly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Porter Loring on McCullough
