

Mary Faye Hicks Montgomery, beloved wife, mother, gran, sister and friend, and resident of San Antonio, Texas, died January 10, 2005 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
Faye, the daughter of Jeanette and Ernest Hicks, was born on September 12, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee, and spent happy childhood years in Mobile, Alabama.
Faye received a B.S. degree in nursing from Sacred Heart Dominican College, St. Joseph's Department of Nursing, in Houston, Texas, and a master's degree in nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Faye was an artist and taught nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. In addition to raising a family, she led a very active life and had a number of other interests.
Faye loved to fish and to jog, and to spend time with her grandchildren. Faye was a member of University Presbyterian Church, the Cosmopals and P.E.O., and had served as a Camp Fire Girls leader.
Faye is survived by her husband, Bill; mother-in-law, Maybelle Montgomery; daughter, Ann Leafstedt and husband, Carl, and their children, Wendell and Kent, daughter, Mary Walsh and husband, Tim and their children, William and Elizabeth; brothers, Richard Hicks and Leon Hicks; and sisters, Margaret Southern, Jeanne Balkman and Angela Klausner and their families, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Raja Flores and Dr. Kenneth Cooper for their care and kindness, and all the doctors and nurses who cared for Faye.
