Mary O. Moreno

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Mary, who entered into eternal rest July 25, 2026, at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her father Emiterio Villarreal, Her brother Eddie Villarreal, Her Grandsons Tomas Amesquita and Edward Amesquita.

Mary was born on June 8, 1942 In San Antonio Texas, she lived a life rooted in faith, love, hard work, and unwavering devotion to her family. As a single mother, she faced life’s challenges with remarkable strength and determination, dedicating herself to raising her children while working faithfully for 28 years as a Head Custodian in Edgewood School DIstrict. Through her perseverance and God’s grace, she retired and enjoyed the blessings of a life well lived, surrounded by those she loved most.

Her greatest accomplishment was never found in a career or material possessions—it was her family. She believed that family was life’s greatest gift and taught those around her that love should always be stronger than differences. She embraced each of her children for exactly who they were, celebrating their unique personalities and loving each one. Whenever one of her children needed encouragement, advice, or a helping hand, she found her own special way to be there.

She was blessed to witness generations of love grow before her eyes. She leaves behind her children:

Pedro Moreno Jr, Debra Amesquita (Lorenzo Amesquita), Priscilla Romero, Cynthia Michaud (Steven Michaud), and Ruby Cantu (Leonard Cantu).

She was a proud grandmother to 18 grandchildren, a cherished great-grandmother to 29 great-grandchildren, and a joyful great-great-grandmother to 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy will continue to live on through every generation she helped shape with her kindness, wisdom, and unconditional love.

She also treasured the gift of friendship. Her lifelong bond with her best friend was a beautiful example of loyalty, laughter, and unconditional support. Their friendship was one of life’s greatest blessings and remained close to her heart throughout the years.

She loved sitting on the porch, quietly watching the birds, admiring the passing cars, and appreciating the beauty of everyday life. She found happiness in ordinary moments that became extraordinary because they were shared with those she loved. She loved playing Lotería and Uno with her great grandchildren, laughing together, creating traditions, and making memories that will be cherished forever.

Her faith in God carried her through every season of life. She trusted in His plan, found comfort in His promises, and lived each day with a grateful heart. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace and in the loving presence of our Lord along with her beloved father, brother, and her grandsons.

Though our hearts are broken, we celebrate a life that was filled with compassion, resilience, faith, and unconditional love. Her legacy is not simply measured by the years she lived, but by the countless lives she touched and the family she nurtured with her whole heart. The values she instilled in her children will continue to guide her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave, San Antonio, Texas. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the same location.
