

She was a loving and supportive wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her mother Elvira S. Gonzales and her husband, Ernest F. Olivares. Mrs. Olivares was a 4th generation San Antonian and worked as a pharmacist there for nearly 25 years.
She received her B.S. in Pharmacy at the University of Texas in Austin. At that time, she was one of only two women in the class of 1948 and became one of the first female pharmacists in Texas. Her hobbies included gardening, crafts, needlework and swimming. She also made many hundreds of rosaries to give away to the Missions.
She was a very charitable person and volunteered her time and talent to her church, St. Matthews Catholic Church. Mary Jane was a women of great faith her entire life. She was one of the founding members of St. Matthews Parish in her later years attended Holy Spirit Parish. She loved the beach and made many trips to Corpus Christi and Padre Island with her family.
Mary Jane will be remembered for her caring ways, her tireless service to her family and community and her sense of humor.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Olivares; daughters, Dr. Rebecca A. Olivares and Dr. Patricia Olivares; and her grandson, Sammy Trevino.
