She graduated from Bryn Mar College School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse. She worked as a neurosurgical nurse at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. She met her husband, Lt. Col. James R. 'Dick' Peacock on a blind date and they married on December 4, 1954. As an Air Force wife, she lived in Japan, Hawaii and Louisiana. She made her home in San Antonio, TX in 1962.
After raising her three children, she turned her quilting hobby into a business when she opened The Quilt House. Her monthly quilting bee brought hours of joy and companionship with "the girls". Every Tuesday, she worked with her dear friend, Lorna Eichling, to make quilts for children at Ronald McDonald House and The Fisher House.
She volunteered at the Brookhollow Branch Library where she was treasurer and then president of The Friends of the Brookhollow Library. She was an avid reader and shared that passion with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Dick Peacock; parents, W.P. and Evelina Woodroffe; brother, Francis Woodroffe; and sister, Mildred Woodroffe Cade.
She is survived by her son, Mark Peacock and wife Beth of Georgetown, TX; daughters, Debbie Cesaro and husband Dennis, and Wendy Peacock of San Antonio; grandchildren, Braden Webb and wife Kristen, Josh Webb, Carly and Bailey Peacock, Madi, P.J. and Jake Wright; niece, Ginny Cade Rooney; sister-in-law, Ruth Peacock; nephews, Greg and Roger Peacock; and her beloved dog Callie.
Mom's love for life was contagious and she will be missed.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff at North Central Baptist Hospital Telemetry unit. They made her last days very comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Animal Defense League or The Friends of the Brookhollow Library.
