

After graduating from San Jacinto High School in Houston, where she was Queen of the May, and Rice University, where she was a Rice Beauty, she married William Curren Porter. They were active members of St. Mark's Episcopal Church for 25 years until his death in 1965.
Mary Lou became a member of Christ Episcopal Church and was involved in numerous activities within the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas including the Altar Guild, the Daughters of the King and volunteering at Santa Fe Mission.
Mary Lou was a member of the Battle of Flowers Association and treasured many memories of Band Festivals and Battle of Flowers parades. She was also a member of the Junior League and the San Antonio Country Club.
She enjoyed the blessings of many longstanding friendships throughout her lifetime.
She is survived by her daughter, Molly Porter Burke; granddaughter, Jennifer Porter Delmer and husband Jonathan, of San Antonio; brother-in-law, Ross Washam; and nephews, Tom Porter, Rusty Porter Washam, Jerry Porter Washam and wife Mary, all of Dallas, Texas.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Mrs. Mozell Grant, Dr. Paul Smith, Sister Jo Murray and Incarnate Word Retirement Community for their caring and concern.
