

She was born at Ft. Sam Houston and lived her early life there. Her father died when she was 13 yrs old as oldest of 5 children. She married at 16 and had 3 children and was always a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
After her husband of 53 years died she moved back to San Antonio to be near her daughter, and her family, continuing to enjoy painting, gardening, writing and reading and enjoying family ties. She enjoyed her dogs and birds. She was very artistic in everything she did including turning a house into a home and a yard into a paradise. She shopped for organic food long before it become popular. Painting was her greatest passion and most paintings were inspired by driving country roads. She will be dearly missed and always be in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Gaston and Emily Neisner; husband, John Ricker; brother, Johnny Gaston and grandson, Steven Ricker. Mary Lou is survived by her children, Larry Ricker (Patsy), Steven Ricker (Lynn), Linda Kahanek (Joe); 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Carl Gaston (Jimmye) Annalee and Doris VanDyke (Joe).
Rosary will be on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Porter Loring Mortuary North at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church, 1314 Fair Avenue.
Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donation to Humane Society.
