Mary Janet Guthrie Sauer died on February 26, 2012. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 30, 1916, to Dr. Thomas Franklin and Ernestine Maxfield Guthrie. She grew up and completed her schooling in St. Louis and as a young adult Janet moved to San Antonio, where she met and married Frederick Merz Sauer. They were married for 45 years until Fred's death in 1982.
Janet is survived by son, Rick Sauer and wife, Suzanne of Round Rock; and daughter, Ann Smith of San Antonio. She has four grandchildren, Jana Burns and husband, Alan of Lexington, TX, Jeff Sauer of Austin, Dr. Kirsten Smith of San Antonio and Reagan Wellins and husband, Mike of New York City. She also leaves five great-grandchildren, Makenna Burns, Carter Sauer, Caroline Sauer, Oliver Wellins and Zachary Wellins.
