

Mary Belle Swearingen logged thousands of hours on the back of a motorcycle, and survived, had three major car accidents, and survived, jumped out of an airplane on her 75th birthday last December, and survived, so how sad that we lost our precious Mary Belle from complications following a routine outpatient surgery. On Sunday, September 5, 2010, she left this life to join her Lord and family in Heaven.
She is survived by Bob Lewallen, as well as her three children, Keni and John Rodgers of Hondo, Lesli Banner and John Atkin of San Antonio and Phil and Valerie Swearingen of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Ron and Shanna Rodgers of Houston, Lori and Mike Rose of Hondo, Lauren and Mark Richey of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rowdy Banner, Kylie Rock, Tatum and Reid Swearingen; two great-grandchildren, Bella Rose and Caitlyn Richey. She is preceded in death by her husband, Col. Douglas Osborne Swearingen and her daughter, Judi Johnson.
Mary Belle was a committed member and pianist at First Baptist Church, Jourdanton and was actively involved in their nursing home ministry.
A visitation for Mary Belle will be held Tuesday evening, Sept. 7, 2010 from 7PM to 9PM at Sunset Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 8:30AM at the funeral home with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Jourdanton.
