

She graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1923 then from Incarnate Word College and received her Masters in Education from Southwest Texas Teachers College.
She was a beloved school teacher of 42 years at Cementville Schools, now The Quarry, then Cambridge Elementary and substituted for 10 years hence. She dedicated her life to her children in the classroom and was awarded Texas Teacher of the Year, president of Texas State Teachers Association, Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and American Association of University Women.
She was a grand-champion bridge player and a charter member of Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church where she held many positions-her favorite, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
She baked sweets for everyone- especially the AH Police and Fire Dept. and volunteered at Alamo Heights nursing homes and in her community for over 20 years.
Survivors include Lucille Sweeney, Fred Sweeney, Pat and Chesley Swann, Megan, John and Sam Sweeney, Chesley IV and Robert Swann, Ruth Marek of Corpus Christi.
