Mary Lou Sweet

Mary Lou Sweet passed away on January 25, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 90. She was born to Edgar and Jennie Smith of Hymera, on May 25 1930. She was a graduate of Hymera High School and married Robert "Bill" Sweet of Shelburn on August 23, 1951. For many years Mary Lou was the school secretary in Shelburn and it is in that capacity that many of her Shelburn neighbors remember her best. After retiring from that position, Mary Lou moved to Texas to be close to her daughter, Jeffri, and her three granddaughters.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, older brother, Gene, and her husband. She is survived by her daughter Jeffri (Mrs. James) Gilman, son-in-law, granddaughters, Sarah (Mrs. Kevin) Bryant, Katy Gilman, and Emily Gilman. Mary Lou's last years were brightened by the presence of her great grandchildren, Madison Lynn Bryant and Arthur James (AJ) Bryant. Mary Lou was always most happy in the presence of a family that loved her dearly.

At this time the family requests that service information not be made public. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Windcrest United Methodist Church in Mary Lou's honor.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Elmcroft of Windcrest, the assisted living facility where Mary Lou spent the last several years of her life, for their excellent care.
