Allene Turpin, who loved to be called “Nanny” by her grandkids, departed her loving family on January 11, 2021 at the age of 76. The love of her life, Glenn Edward Turpin proceeded her death 6 days later January 17, 2021. Glenn and Allene meet when she was 16 and would have been married 60 years on February 18, 2021. Those that knew them would tell you they would not have known what to do without the other as they were always together.
Allene was a devoted mother to her daughters Glenda Friesenhahn and Mary May. She thrived in the life of a homemaker, raising her family first on the Southside of San Antonio, Texas and later in the community of Bulverde, Texas. At the age of 40, Allene decided to join her husband Glenn at the family business, Turpin Auto Sales in San Antonio. For many years, Glenn and she would drive to their business, spending numerous hours together talking, laughing, and planning their next trip to the casino or a trip down to the coast to go fishing.
Anyone who knew Allene, knew that her greatest joy were her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. It was a family joke, that at 4:00 dad and mom would be driving down the driveway just to say “hi” and see the grandkids. Holiday were especially important to her. Birthdays had to be celebrated on the actual birth date. She began planning Thanksgiving weeks in advance and would not think of missing seeing the grandkids and great grandkids expressions as they opened their presents at Christmas. Her love for God, her family and the people who stopped by the car lot will live in our hearts forever.
Allene was survived in death by her husband, Glenn E Turpin; daughters, Glenda Friesenhahn (Thomas) and Mary May; grandchildren, Tai Friesenhahn (Archie), Danielle Pontious, Thomas “TW” Friesenhahn, Jack (Casey) May, and Brandon May; great-grandchildren, Dreyson, Jackson, Branson, and Cole; and numerous nieces and nephew.
