Mary Louise Walker Sedgwick, 106, passed away one week after a fall at her home. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Louise was also a small, lively bundle of energy who enjoyed ballroom dancing and loved dachshunds.
Louise was born in West Virginia and grew up in San Antonio where she attended Mark Twain School and Jefferson High School. She went to college in Bowling Green, Kentucky. With her first husband, John Bower Walker, Louise ran a children's clothing shop. After he died, she married Richard F. Sedgwick and worked as his bookkeeper at Bingo Auto Parts in Hondo, Texas. After his death, she sold the business and eventually moved to Whisper Hollow Condominiums where she was the on-site manager from age 75 to age 94.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Hellon Sadler, her two dear husbands and her son Joe W. Walker. She is survived by her step-daughter Teresa Sedgwick Chisholm, daughter-in-law Patricia Walker; grandsons John Chisolm, Jr. (Julie), Joe Walker, Jr. (Liz), Thomas Walker (Reese), Robert Walker, and John Scott Walker (Gabrielle). Two great-grandchildren, Alexandrea Walker and Thomas Walker, Jr., also survive her, as well as other family members.
Our thanks to Beacon Hospice, especially Norma and Shanice, for the wonderful care they gave Louise. Services for Mary will be private.
