Matias M Sanchez

Matias M Sanchez entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on September 2, 2022 at the age of 95. He was born on February 20, 1927 in Mexico to Ruthilia De Moral and Guadalupe Sanchez. He was second oldest of eight children.

Matias met the love of his life at the tender age of 13. He met Stella Hinojosa during a church function at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and later in life, they got married. Together, they moved to California with different job opportunities. The family later decided to move back to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to extended family. Matias was part of the Knights of Columbus in his local parish. He was proud of his yard and gardening skills. Matias was a hardworking man, always making sure to provide for his family. During 1972 and 1974 he built a five bedroom, two bath home to better accommodate to his family. He was also great with puzzles and loved to read.

Matias will be reunited in heaven with his parents, Ruthilia and Guadalupe Sanchez; wife, Stellas Sanchez; brothers, Alfonso Sanchez and Joseph Sebastian Sanchez; and sister, Sister Jane Sanchez.

His memory will forever live in the memory of his loving children, Matias Steven Sanchez, Ana Azeves, Stella (Jose Luis) Flores, Lucy (Sergio) Castillo, Leo (Aurora) Sanchez, and Lydia (Paul) Ortega. Brothers, Rafael Sanchez; sisters, Sister Asunción Sanchez, May Sanchez, and Sister Jocie Sanchez; grandchildren, Sarah, Julie, Lisa, Daniella, Jesse, LeAnn, Amanda, Robert, Salina, Mindy, Marisol, Sergio, Leo, Jacob, Audry, Stacy, Zack, Valerie, and Melaney; 32 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A visitation for Matias will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home. A Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM. A Mass of The Resurrection will occur Friday, September 16, 2022 from 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the interment to follow at San Fernando #2 Cemetery.
