Matilde V. Gutierrez passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2023. She was born in San Antonio Texas, at home on a Dairy Farm / Ranch on March 14, 1930. Everyone called her Tillie. She was raised by her parents Evaristo Veliz and Jovita Veliz along with her large family, oldest brother Anacleto and sisters Josephina (Jessa), Cecilia, Trinadad (Trini), Maria, and Sophia. Matilde attended Benjamin Franklin Elementary and Middle School and Edison High School, class of 1948. She joined the Edison HS tennis team competing with district schools and playing at Alamo Heights HS and she liked playing tennis with her three sons at McFarlane, Woodlawn Lake, and Thomas Jefferson HS tennis facilities.
Matilde married Albert Gutierrez, Sr. (deceased) July 28, 1956, and raised three sons Albert Gutierrez, Jr. wife Diana, Charles Gutierrez wife Sylvia, and Edward Gutierrez (deceased). She and her family enjoyed travel vacations, camping, hunting, fishing, youth sports, music, dancing, playing cards, and much more. In her later years Tillie enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen Center to enjoy fun activities with lifelong friends and the new friends she always made easily.
Matilde enjoyed her grandkids and great grandkids of Albert Gutierrez, Jr. and Diana L. Gutierrez, Jennifer Gutierrez with children K’Shon, Ziya, Kenzi, Angel, Mario Jr., and Rosa; Stephanie Gutierrez with Isabel; Kimberly with Matthew; and Melanie Gutierrez with Lyanna and Myrcella Roux. And her grandkids of Charles and Sylvia Gutierrez, Daniel and Krystle. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Charles Gutierrez, Jr.
Matilde enjoyed peace and happiness with her Family and Friends here on earth and we are Faithful that she has joined God and her Family in Heaven celebrating continued Peace in her Soul.
The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary.
