Matthew Blake Mr. Merkel

Matthew "Blake" Merkel, age 32, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in San Antonio, Texas. Blake was born on August 4th, 1986 in Ada, Oklahoma to Gloria and Harold "Bud" Merkel. He was the youngest brother to sister Stephanie Merkel, and brother "Beau" Merkel. Blake was loved by so many and a friend to everyone he came in contact with. Blake enjoyed all things outdoors, from snowboarding to mountain biking, to skydiving, however his world revolved around his beloved daughter, Madi. "The adventures of Madi and daddy" as Blake would call their many outings, included riding bikes, going to the zoo, playing at the park, or getting pedicures. It didn't matter where as long as they were together.

Blake was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gerald Shipman, Harold Guse Merkel, and Bessie Lorene Merkel. He is survived by his daughter, Madilynn Mae Merkel; parents, Gloria and Bud; grandmother, Darelene Hyslip; sister, Stephanie Merkel; brother, Harold "Beau" Merkel; nieces, Kendall Merkel and Kira Grace Merkel and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
