

Maudelene Allyn passed away peacefully on February 25,2026 in San Antonio, Texas her home for over 55 years at almost 103 years of age.
Maudelene was born and raised in Francesville, Indiana. on July 6, 1923, to Jacob “Roy” Myers and Ida “Edith” Grock Myers, one of 10 children.
Maudelene served her country in WW2, as a Wave in the U.S. Navy. After, completing her basic training at Hunter College in NYC, she was then sent back to Indiana and stationed at Crane Ammunition Depot outside of Bloomington for the duration of the war. Once the war was over, her tour of duty not yet complete she was reassigned to Toledo, Ohio to process returning sailors it was there she met her future husband Arthur “Jim” James Allyn they were married on October 10,1946, he preceded her in death in July 1996 after almost 50 years of marriage.
After Jim’s naval tour of duty was complete, they returned to Toledo, Ohio and made their home there until the onset of the Korean War. Jim, being a member of the Ohio National Guard, was called upon once again for service to his country.
Although not seeing action in Korea and deciding upon a military career, Maude and Jim traveled with his career in the army to duty stations in Germany, Washington state, Texas and California before retiring and returning to San Antonio. Maude enjoyed being a military wife and made both Navy and Army friends along the way and corresponded with them for many years after retirement.
Maude enjoyed antiquing, yard sales, flea markets, sewing, movies, card games and puzzles. The car could not pass a yard sale and barely came to a stop before she was out of the car. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her beloved sister Jeanne Hawn of Lakewood, Colorado and devoted daughters Cynthia J. and Nancy L. Allyn of San Antonio, Texas and many nieces and nephews across the United States.
Donations may be made to the Women’s Military Memorial in Arlington, Virginia or Habitat for Humanity.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia alongside her beloved husband Jim at a future date.
