I met Maureen in Toronto Canada at an Eye Banking Conference, where we began a 24 year friendship. Maureen shared all her knowledge and experience helping me get started in my new career. Although Maureen left eye banking to become a school nurse, we kept in touch for the next 22 years. Maureen and Frank came to New Brunswick Canada to visit twice and they were one of my most treasured memories. Maureen had a heart of gold and always thought of others before herself.  I feel honored to know such a wonderful person, and count her as a dear friend. Maureen will always have a special place in my heart.

She truly was a kind,compassionate and knowledgeable nurse.
Sorry to have  lost touch in the past and also to hear she was ill. I look forward to laughing as we share stories, when we meet again.

Maureen was one of the sweetest and kindest people I have had the pleasure to know.  All who met her were immediately embraced as a friend. We at Galm Elementary, especially the students, loved her for her caring nature and keen sense of humor.  We were blessed to know her and Heaven is blessed to have Angel Maureen.

Maureen ( Mo ) and I met in 1974 right after her service as a Navy Nurse moving here in RI .    Memories of her kindness and friendship will always be remembered.  My sincere sympathies to her husband Frank, step children, father, sister and relatives and friends.   Heaven has gained an angel , may she Forever Rest in Peace. Maureen was a very special person.  You will never find anyone more caring, loving and giving. We were blessed to have her in our lives.  She is now being rewarded in heaven, no doubt she's there, an angel for sure.  We love you, will never forget you.

Camryn:  As her neighbor I loved Maureen very much and I would always call her "Aunt Maureen." Nearly every Christmas I would come to her house and we would bake some cookies, maybe sometimes banana bread.  Every time I came to her house she would give me candy and I would always leave with a happy smile on my face. When my mom brought me home for the first time, Maureen threw a welcome party for me, my mom and I thank her very much. Whenever it was my birthday she would give me a gift. I remember she gave me a bracelet with an angel on it and I love it dearly. Even though I am very sad she is gone, I am glad she isn't in pain and isn't sick anymore. God was ready for her, and I am glad she broke free from the chains of pain and sickness. The Swanston Family will miss her dearly.

Maureen will be truly missed on earth. I came to know her when she was the school nurse at my daughter's elementary school. The call would be weekly and went like this, "Hello Mrs. Hilsher. This is Maureen Lopez, school nurse at Galm and I have Katie in the clinic." Later, I got to know Maureen even more when I worked at her school. She was there for everyone, not just students. Once, she accidentally stuck herself  on the thumb with my epipen when trying to get it ready to administer it to me. We laughed later but I know she wasn't laughing at that moment!   We were all blessed to have Maureen in our lives and she lives in our hearts forever.

Maureen epitomized love, friendship, and support to everyone she knew. She was there for me during a serious medical challenge, even as she battled through her own. Her courage and generosity were and will always be an inspirition to me. I loved her so.
To all of Maureen's family and loved ones, may God comfort you with the sure and certain knowledge that His dear daughter is safely in His arms. 

My husband Johnny and I knew Maureen for almost 30 years.  I met her in a church singles group at Colonial Hills Methodist.  We bonded immediately.  She was one of six women we affectionately call our Balcony Group, given that we were always lifting each other up.  We have many wonderful memories of happy times with her.  I was with Maureen the day she met Frank.  We shared in their wedding and also in Barb's wedding.  Maureen was a true friend and one of the sweetest people in the world.  She never came to our house without some token of her love for us.  Her sweet laugh still echoes in my heart.  I love her dearly and will miss her greatly. So glad I got to meet you, such a lovely person... You are out of pain and at peace now!

She was an awesome person, one I had the privilege to work with at Galm.  She was so kind to my grandsons and always asked about them.  I think they were “sick” just to come visit with her.  She will be missed but God needed his angel in heaven.  Love you always
