
He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1938 and served in the Army Air Corps from 1939 to 1945, where he attained the rank of Lt. Colonel.
He continued to serve in the Air Force Reserve from 1945 until the late 1960's.
He married his wife, Rita, in 1944, and enjoyed over sixty years of marital bliss.
From 1945 to 1995, he was in the restaurant supply business and had warm relationships with many loyal and supportive customers and associates including Luby's Cafeterias.
He also participated in The Plate & Platter stores with Rita, where together they had many fascinating buying trips both domestically and abroad as well as making enduring business relationships and friendships.
Kope was a long-time, active member of Temple Beth El.
He was involved with the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce for many years as well as serving on the boards of the USO and Golden Manor Home for the Aged.
He was also a member of the Alamo Heights Rotary Club for over thirty years.
Kope enjoyed golf with his friends and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
The family would like to express it's heartfelt appreciation to the friends and associates at Golden Manor and VITAS Hospice for the care and love they provided.
Kope is survived by his wife, Rita; his children, Ninai Koplan of Schuyler, Virginia; David and wife, Sherrie of Dallas, Texas; and Robert of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and grandchildren, Kevin and Katie Koplan of Dallas, Texas.
