McKinney "Mac" Raba Gentis, beloved son of Amanda and Francois Gentis, passed away on January 17, 2022 at home. Little Mac, with his giant personality had many nick-names but his mama most often called him Happy Mac; in the 15 months of his earthly life he brought so much happiness and joy to all who were lucky enough to know him. Through the many health challenges of his too-short life, he was always ready with a smile, up for a cuddle and eager to share babbling conversation, especially with his bestie, his dog, Sissy Brie.
Mac was born October 20, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. In addition to his parents, he is survived and forever deeply loved by his sister, Vivienne, his maternal grandparents Joni and Gary Raba, and paternal grandparents Michele and Ian Gentis. He is also survived by maternal great grandparents Mary and Roy Rogers and Carl Raba, Aunt and Uncle Jessica and Gage Raba, cousins Cora and Darryn Raba, Uncle Phillip Gentis, cousin JJ Gentis and Aunt Madeleine Gentis, and honorary aunts Erin Ross, Janelle Berger and Lindsay Sewell.
The family thanks Dr. Leah Jacobson who held his parents hands on this difficult journey, Dr. Shabby Ashtiani, who kept the whole family aligned, his therapists Kendyll, Monica, and Liz and his very caring hospice team. And thanks to the wonderful PICU team at North Central Baptist including nurses Adrienne, Katie, Michaela and Andy.
Though Mac had barely had a chance to dip his toes into the adventures he would have had on this earth he did get to dip his toes into the Gulf of Mexico, we know he will live on forever in our hearts and the hands of God. A small memorial service was held for Mac on January 30th.
Memorial donations may be made in Macs name to The Witte Museum, 3801 Broadway St, San Antonio, TX 78209, attention: Heather Russo.
