

Mike Perez, age 77, was born in Comales, Taumalipas, Mexico on July 13, 1944. He passed away August 3, 2021 at Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital. Mike passed with his daughter, Michele and wife, Linda by his side.
Mike is predeceased by his Mother, Adela Cano Cienfuegos and his Father, Eliezar Cienfuegos. He is survived by his children, Alma Reeves, Medardo E. Perez, Amber Jaeger, Michele Perez, His wife, Hermalinda Morales Perez, his brothers, Gildardo Perez, Jaime Cano, and many cousins and close friends he called family.
Mike moved from Mexico to San Antonio with is Mom and Dad when he was 11 years old. He was an intelligent person who quickly learned English and assimilated with ease to the United States. He moved on to graduate top of his class from Edison H.S. at the age of 17. He took college courses at San Antonio College before enlisting in the United States Navy as a radar technician on the USS Oriskany during the Vietnam war. He enjoyed his time in the Navy and fondly regaled stories of travel to places near and as far as Subic Bay, Philippines. After the Navy, he started a 31 year career with Southwestern Bell. While working for SWBC he joined and retired from the United States Air Force reserves.
Mike had a passion for hunting. He hunted all throughout Texas, in Colorado, and South Dakota. He was fortunate to be able to do what he loved and was able to forge friendships while doing so. He had many talents such as playing pool, dancing, barbecuing, and a couple of hidden talents like playing guitar and singing. What Mike did best though, was helping those he loved and cared for. He was a wise, thoughtful, and giving man. He would often surprise friends and family with small tokens of his love. Everyone who knew him shared the same sentiment, “Mike was a GOOD man”. Apa will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in our hearts.
