

Melva was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and friend who devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers. She was an avid fan of the San Antonio Spurs. She also enjoyed cooking for those she loved and treasured every moment spent with her family. Her warmth, kindness, and caring spirit will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Eliberto R. Salazar: Her parents, Anselmo Gonzales Ybarra and Maria Neira Ybarra; her sisters, Genoveva Y. Rodriguez, Aurora Y. Lopez and Guadalupe Y. Mendoza: her brothers, Arnulfo N. Ybarra and Enrique N. Ybarra; and daughter in law, Beatrice G. Salazar.
Melva is survived by her children , Herbert Salazar, Mario Salazar, John Salazar, James Salazar (Leslie), Lucy Salazar, Lupe Garcia, Isabel Garza (Valentine), Nancy Pozos (Fernando), Darlene Serna (Paul) and Pearl Ortega (Jose); 23 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; her sister, Carolina Y. Arias and her beloved pet Natalia; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.
Melva's love, strength, and devotion to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
There will be a Visitation held Monday, June 8, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. On Tuesday, June 9, 2026 Visitation will continue beginning at 8:30 am at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. Procession will follow at 11:00 am going to San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237.
