

He was active in basketball while in school. Melvin graduated from high school at age 18 and worked faithfully in Peoria before moving to San Antonio, Texas in 1995.
There Melvin met and married Bonnie. On May 20, 2000 in San Antonio Texas, they dedicated their eternal love to each other. During his eleven year stay in San Antonio, Melvin was an employee of the Salvation Army before coming to work at HEB. He worked there for five years.
They have three children Jala Melina, Aisha, and Akim. He leaves a host of relatives that will miss him and are looking forward to seeing him again. His wife, Bonnie, their three children, Jala, Aisha and Akim: his mother Janice of Dallas, father Melvin Sr. of Peoria, three brothers: Marcus of Peoria, Brian and Brandon of Dallas Texas, four brothers-in-law, Melvin, Fred, Kenneth and Jovan, all of San Antonio, Texas. There are also five uncles on his fathers' side: Richard and Clester of Peoria, Reverend Milton Roger of Chicago, and Nelson of Killeen, Texas. He will also be missed by his five aunts on his fathers side: Margaret and Pam of San Diego, California, Sherry of Killeen, Texas and Delvera Jean of Gary, Indiana: As well as his five aunts on his mothers side: Cynthia, Kim, Sharon, Robin, and Sherry all of Norfolk, Virginia. Melvin also has a niece Nashira of Dallas and a host of cousins, friends and co-workers of who love him very much.
He has worked at HEB for the last five years and will be missed dearly by his co-workers. Every tree is known by its fruit. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good fruit.
