Mercedes Batista de Gutiérrez, age 83, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on August 4, 1937 in Mexico City to her parents José David Batista and María Luisa Zorrilla Batista. She attended the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio.
Mercedes was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her eight children, Carolina Waterman (Charles), Romeo Gutiérrez Batista, Irene Gutiérrez, David Gutiérrez (Mabel), Javier Gutiérrez (Francine), Jorge Gutiérrez (Selma), Lauro Gutiérrez, and Lourdes Gutiérrez; sister María Luisa Batista; brother José David Batista; seventeen grandchildren, Bryan and Milena Waterman; Daniel, Ana Claudia and Marcela Gutiérrez; Mauricio Gutiérrez, Diego and Dante Gutiérrez-Tomlinson; Gabriela and Elizabeth Gutiérrez; Cecilia, Sofia and Ella Gutiérrez; Jorge, Susana and David Gutiérrez; and Camila Hammock; and four great grandchildren Timothy and Jacob Gomez; and Natalia and Josefina Gutiérrez.
