Although Merle was proud to be an American, her roots – her heart – was Jamaican. Born and raised in Sawyers, Trelawny, Jamaica, she loved the country and people. She rose from a humble start and developed a full, rich, educated life. Believing that education was everything, she taught and helped many people develop a full and successful life for themselves.
Merle loved to sew and often made clothing for herself and others. She loved to travel and saw many parts of the world. An avid tennis player, Merle was always up for a game. People who knew her also knew she would probably win at any domino game. She, her son, his wife and the grandsons were a close group and the love of her life.
Merle was the last remaining member of her original family.
She is survived by her son, Kearne Anderson and wife Crystal; grandsons, Anthony Anderson and Kearne Joseph Anderson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Northern Hills United Methodist Church
