Merle Gearman, of San Antonio, entered into rest November 28, 2010 at the age of 65. She was born December 27, 1944 in LaGrange, Texas to Sam and Estelle Grant. Merle retired from USAA in 2001 after 38 years of service. She was very active in square and round dancing, having held offices on the National Executive Committee as well as several offices in the local club. Merle never met a stranger and loved to help people by volunteering her services in several organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Cheryl as well as her aunts and uncles. Survivors include her husband, Ovid; granddaughter, Alexandria; son-in-law, Derik; step-son, Mark; 2 step grandchildren, Alex and Taylor and several cousins.
A visitation will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 5PM to 8PM at Sunset Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, December 3, 2010 at 9:30AM at Sunset Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
