Mia was born January 30, 1970, at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As the daughter of a military officer, she moved many times and attended numerous schools including Sacred Heart Academy in Del Rio, TX, Del Rio High School, Randolph High School and Brussels American School in Brussels, Belgium. She graduated from Baylor University in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising.
Mia married her soul mate and the love of her life, Bryce Brooksmith, on May 4th, 1996, and together they shared almost 29 years of marriage and one daughter, Bryana Renee Brooksmith.
Mia worked for Lowe’s Home Improvement as a department and store manager for 15 years before moving on to her most recent position as the Human Resources Director for Mama Margie’s Restaurants in San Antonio.
During her lifetime, Mia enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, gardening, fishing and traveling. Mia was compassionate and always had a willingness to help others in times of need. She loved Christmastime, frogs, her dogs, Kodi, Kylie and Ranger and all things Wonder Woman!
Mia was preceded in death by her parents, Brigadier General Albert Gagliardi, Jr. and Katharine McMahon Gagliardi.
She is survived by her husband, Bryce Brooksmith of San Antonio; her daughter, Bryana Brooksmith, also of San Antonio; one brother, Michael Gagliardi of Birmingham, Alabama; and one sister, Gina Gagliardi DeWall and husband, Marc DeWall of Boerne, Texas; her aunt, Agnes Keeney of Newport Rhode Island; and uncle, Stephen McMahon (Jodie) of San Antonio as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring doctors and nurses in the liver transplant unit at University Hospital for their care and compassion in Mia’s final days.

The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 A.M. -11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E.
A Memorial service will be held same day at Porter Loring Mortuary North, at 11:00 A.M.
