Michael Stuart Bailey

Michael Stuart Bailey, age 61, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born August 16, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Stuart L. and Anita Jo Bailey. He graduated in 1971 from Alief High School in Alief, Texas and attended Wharton County Junior College in 1972. Mike enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany until he was honorably discharged from active duty in 1975. He continued in the Texas Army National Guard until 1980. Mike had been a part of the San Antonio Texas Department of Transportation family for 25 years. He worked daily to ensure the integrity and safety of the highways of San Antonio. Many of his co-workers were with him on April 3rd and did not leave in his time of need. Mike's great hobby was genealogy. He spent most of this free time researching his extended family. His archives of the Bailey, Bean, Goodnight and Stewart families are extensive.

Mike is survived by his parents, Stuart and Anita Bailey of San Antonio; his sister, Patti Saurage; niece, Allison Saurage and nephew, Scott Saurage and wife Michelle of Houston, Texas; and many other extended family in New Mexico and Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
