Raised in Buena Vista, Virginia, Michael loved being involved in so many activities, groups, and sports in his small town growing up.
Not long after graduating from Parry McCluer High School, Michael met his wife Karen on a blind date. They quickly married, and have shared the last 42yrs together.
Michael then enlisted into to USAF. While serving in the USAF Michael held many roles, but one of his favorite was that of an airplane mechanic for the jet fighters. He loved the rumble and could identify the type of jet by sound…always pointing them out to anyone around. Michael was stationed in Alaska, England, California, Korea, Virginia, and Texas during his 20yrs in the Air Force before retiring in San Antonio.
After Michael's retirement from the Air Force, he went on to work at the Audie Murphy VA Hospital to support his fellow veterans.
It was ultimately here in San Antonio that became home. Michael became very active in the church and served as an usher, video/audio lead, assisted with Men's Group, church mechanic, and accepted any other role that was asked of him.
He also became a regular fixture with RCW – River City Wrestling where he was known as 'Major Mike'.
Michael loved his family and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He always made every effort to attend every event of his children and grandchildren. He loved to watch his grandsons play baseball and football, and rarely missed a game. Michael's commitment was so evident, that he took early retirement to be a 100% caregiver to his wife Karen who has Early Onset Alzheimer's.
He was a very giving man who always was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Michael mentored many young men during his time here, taking them under his wing to guide them in the absence of their own father.
Michael is survived by his wife Karen, his daughters Monica and Clarisa, and his two grandsons Dante and Diego.
