

Michael Galindo Sr., age 95, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. Michael was born in San Antonio, on September 29, 1927, to parents, Consuelo Gonzales and Regino Galindo.
He served in The U.S. Navy and soon was promoted to Seaman Second Class. He served from November 16, 1945, to November 15, 1947. During that time, he was first stationed in San Diego, California, and later stationed in Alaska and Hawaii. He was a World War II Veteran on The U.S.S. Iowa Battleship. He was awarded several military medals for his service. Among them was the WW II Victory Medal. He worked at Kelly AFB for fifty-one and half years. At Kelly AFB he was a graphics artist and later was promoted to the sign shop supervisor. He received many awards including many letters of appreciation for his outstanding work at Kelly AFB. His work was acknowledged by Pope Paul John II, actors Bob Hope and Fess Parker. He retired from Kelly AFB on March 3, 1994.
He was a South San Community resident and a volunteer for the SAPD Volunteers in Policing. During his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, doing yard work around the house, and watching Western and action movies. He also loved watching Golf and his favorite football team The Dallas Cowboys. In his later years, his favorite niece Elizabeth V. Domowski, and husband Deacon Ed Domowski would visit him often to bring Communion. She would often take him his favorite Mexican dish which he greatly enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha R. Galindo; sisters, Lillian Belli and Dolores M. Villagran; brother, Richard Galindo; and son-in-law, Jimmy Rivas Jr.; and sister, Alice Gutierrez. Michael is survived by his daughters Claudia Galindo, Laura G. Herrera and husband Robert; son, Michael Galindo II, and wife Ermalinda; grandchildren, Desmond G. Rivas (Monica), Dennis G. Rivas, Jennifer Michelle Galindo; and his brother, Frank Galindo and wife Karla.
