Michael Paul Grothues

Michael Paul Grothues, loving fiancée, son, and brother entered into eternal rest on March 10, 2012 at the age of 53. He was born on April 23, 1958 to Arthur and Paula Michiels Grothues in San Antonio, TX. Michael's greatest passion and love in life was his music, playing in Heyoka, Winterkat, Stone and other musical collaborations since high school. Michael is preceded in death by his sister, Maureen Grothues. He is survived by his beloved fiancée, Caren Cobb Vickers; parents, Arthur and Paula Michiels Grothues; sister, Pauline Janert(Ronald); brothers, Arnold Grothues(Paulette) and Randall Grothues(Renee); nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Janert(Maki)and their children Leo and Len, Kathleen Janert, and Cassidy Rogers; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be truly missed by all of his musician family. The family would like to thank Mickey Pena for all of his help during this time. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church of Helotes, TX, 13715 Riggs Rd. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II at 1:30 p.m. that same day.
