

Mike graduated from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, TX, with a degree in Finance in May 2000. Mike moved to San Antonio with the love of his life, Michelle. They were married on August, 4, 2001 at the Chapel of the Abiding Presence on the TLU campus. He graduated with his Master's Degree in Business from the University of Texas at San Antonio in May 2005.
Mike worked in various roles and with various companies during his career in accounting. He began as a staff accountant following graduation, moving onto senior accountant, financial analyst, assistant controller, and eventually becoming a controller. His accounting work was done for various construction companies and home builders. He worked for Pulte Homes, Kuntz-McCombs, Olmos Construction, M and M Contracting, and Monticello Homes.
In 2007, the couple welcomed their oldest daughter Abby and in 2009 their daughter Clara. The family enjoyed spending time together outdoors, watching movies, playing with their cats, visiting family, playing cards and games. They also enjoyed participating in Fitness in the Park classes and staying active by participating in area 5K races, their favorite being Head for the Cure 5K in late September. Their 5K team Headstrong raised money to help promote brain cancer awareness and for a cure.
Anyone who knew Mike knows that he loved to build Lego sets and also enjoyed fishing and spending time in Rockport, TX. Mike and Clara spent countless hours building Legos sets and have made over 50 separate sets, their favorites being Star Wars and the Creator series. Mike and his dad, along with friends, uncle, and cousins have had lots of successful fishing trips and they always had a good day while out in the water! Their favorites to catch and keep were Redfish, Trout, and Flounder.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Hartfiel; his parents, Arlynn & Nancy Hartfiel; twin sister Beth Hartfiel; daughters, Abby and Clara Hartfiel.
The family will be holding a private family memorial service at a later date.
