Michael Thomas Powell

Michael was born in San Antonio, TX on July 18, 1948. He was the youngest of 3 boys. He attended Lee High School and was an avid diver. He was also a diving champion for Alamo Swim Club and Lee High School. Early in his career an auto accident put him in the hospital for several months, followed by rigorous physical therapy. His doctors said he may never walk again, but within the year Michael was back in the water. He could swim before he could walk. He also enjoyed making music with his bands Maximus and later The Poets Mind. Michael had a passion for the universe and all things cosmic. He loved his music and life's great mysteries. Michael was devoted to his family and really loved being a dad.

Michael was the vice president of Industrial Systems, Inc. Michael loved his career, working side by side with his brother, Richard Powell, for over 45 years. He also enjoyed working with his son, Taylor and daughter, Samantha and other family members over the years. We are all thankful for the time we got to spend with him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Dorothy Powell, and his brothers, James H. Powell II and Richard C. Powell.

Michael is survived by his son, Taylor M. Powell; daughter, Samantha R. Powell; nephew, Richard Powell II, wife, Tammy; niece, Kimberly Voigt, husband, Trent and other family members.

The family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
