Our beloved Michael Robert Reh passed away on January 27, 2023.
Michael was born on July 17, 1958 in Koln, Germany. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oswald Robert and Ingeborg Olga Helene Reh and older brother, Norbert Oswald Reh.
Michael was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife Angela of 34 years, his son Michael William Reh (Maria) of Charles City, Iowa; daughter, Jesselyn Ingeborg Hernandez (Jacob) and son, Joseph Landon Reh.
Grandchildren – Aries Miguel Reh, Michael William Reh, Orion Robert Reh, Jazmyne Allison-Mahrie Reh and Ava Sky Hernandez.
Brother in law - Francisco "Frank" Moran (Liz Cantu) and his children, James and Mark Moran.
Michael proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1975-1980.
One of Michael’s greatest accomplishments was having worked on the NASA Space shuttle serving as an aerospace quality engineer and audit assessor.
Michael enjoyed living in the country with his wife Angela. He enjoyed raising chickens and made a small 120-gallon stock pond raising blue gills and crappie fish.
Michael enjoyed sitting outside in the evenings to watch his dogs play, the deer graze, the sunsets, and just gaze at the stars and beauty of both his and Angela’s property in Natalia.
Trinity (Michael’s Doberman) was his faithful service dog, and he truly missed her when she passed away in November of 2021. Michael considered Doberman’s to be the most faithful and loyal of all dog breeds; starting with his first Doberman being Fireball, who watched over Michael W., Jesselyn, and Joseph when they were young children.
Michael also rescued Bubba (Alaskan Husky) in 2017 and enjoyed his companionship.
Michael’s favorite all-time hero was John Wayne – the “Duke”. He loved western movies and loved wearing western hats and boots.
Michael loved to BBQ and enjoyed grilling tripas and corn along with drinking an ice cold beer.
He loved listening to his music outside on the property in the evenings and also having small campfires with his wife Angela.
Music: Some of Michael’s favorite music was Pink Floyd, 70’s music, western music and his most recent favorite song from Eddie Money – “Brand New Day”.
Michael also enjoyed going shooting at the range with his compadres.
One of his favorite collections were his antique guns and his AK47. He was also an avid prepper and became well versed in canning food.
He enjoyed getting away by driving down to the coast with his RV and dogs (Trinity & Penny) and of course with his beloved Angela of which he’d call her “his desert cactus” among many other romantic and quirky nicknames.
Him and his wife Angela’s favorite eating hang-out places was Mi Tierra’s and Hermann Sons Steakhouse in Hondo and they didn’t forget those “margaritas on the rocks”!
Michael truly appreciated all the people that came into his life, and he knew he was blessed. What more could he ask for?
Michael was a fair man and dearly loved all his children and grandchildren with all his heart and soul.
He was very proud of his grandson Michael Jr. when he learned that he had decided to follow in his footsteps by also joining the United States Marine Corp just like him. That was a momentous day for him.
Michael’s most recent joy was the welcoming of his first granddaughter, Ava Sky Hernandez from his only daughter.
He knew that each of his children and grandchildren were all a wonderful gift from God to the family and the world.
For the most part, Michael got to do what he wanted despite his disability and ongoing restricting ailments. Nevertheless, both he and Angela were slowly checking off their “bucket list” as best as they could even if it meant taking risks and making mistakes.
In the end even though our beloved Michael was taken too soon, he knew in his heart that he was truly blessed to have lived life to the fullest and to the best of his ability.
Michael will remain forever in our hearts.
In closing: Michael said he was now a “Soldier of Christ” – just that.
Semper Fidelis - (Always faithful)
For I was, am and shall forever be a “United States Marine”
