Michael received his elementary education in the New York City public school system. He was further educated in Barbados, West Indies for his middle school years. He ultimately graduated from Julia Richman High School in New York City. He received a Congressional Nomination from Congressman Charles Rangel of New York City to attend US Military Academy at West Point. He was accepted into the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Continuing Studies, Architectural Engineering. Michael excelled as a student in Army ROTC and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army upon completion of his degree. During his military career he was stationed in Korea, Honduras, and various state side posts. He received multiple service medals, honors and letters of recommendation as a result of his distinguished service. He retired at the rank of major in 1992.
Michael was lovingly known as “THE GENERAL” according to his family, due to his “NO NONSENSE” demeanor and approach to life. He was a successful businessman and a staunch political conservative. Michael was an avid sports fan, an above average participant in several team sports, and he won multiple accolades for his bowling skills. Most of all he was a true American Patriot and cherished his time spent serving his country.
Michael’s first marriage was to Adrienne Wilkins. From this union three children were born: Stephanie, Michael and Valerie. Their brother, Christopher, was considered as one of his own, and Christopher lovingly referred to him as “Daddio”.
Michael’s second marriage was to Remy Pierce. Tara and Michael embraced each other as father and daughter as a result of this union.

Children: Stephanie Stewart, Michael Stewart II, Valerie Reiffert (Robert) and Christopher Holloman all of San Antonio, TX. Tara M. Pierce of Plano, TX. Siblings: Steven Stewart of Peoria, AZ; Terry Stewart of San Antonio, TX; Alan Stewart Coles of New York, NY; Daniel Stewart (Marcia) of San Antonio, TX; Veronica Stewart Inglander of New York, NY; Andrea Simpson (Christopher) of Dunkirk, MD; L. Michelle Stewart of Plainfield, NJ. Grandchildren: Victoria Pierce of Plano, TX and Owen Reiffert of San Antonio, TX. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends, health care professionals and business associates.
