She was born on July 22, 1968 to Juan Jose Torres, Sr. (J.J.) and Maria Margarita Torres (Margie) in San Antonio, Texas and was a life-long resident.
Michelle graduated from Edison High School in 1986 and attended both UTSA and San Antonio College, where she studied Early Childhood Development. She worked as a childcare worker at various city childcare centers including Castle Hills Learning Center, The Jewish Community Center Early Childhood Center and Central Christian Child Care Center. She had a passion for learning and for teaching, helping raise both family and friends' children, many of whom kept in touch with her until their adult lives pulled them away from San Antonio.
Mrs. Diebel was a dedicated, loving homemaker, a devoted wife and mother, and was active in her son's education, especially in his younger years, as a member and President of the Ridgeview Elementary PTA coordinating all the fundraisers that year along with her husband Dean. She was also a volunteer at the Harmony Hills Cabana Club where she was happy to greet all the swimmers with a smile as they came to relax. She was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and attended mass at St. John the Evangelist where she received all her sacraments.
Michelle was an avid reader and especially enjoyed historical fiction books and loved researching family history. Her other interests included cooking, eating good food, gardening, listening and dancing to music, and caring for her dog. Michelle loved to be outdoors. She enjoyed camping and was an excellent camp cook. She also loved the beach and all things having to do with water especially swimming, tubing down the Guadalupe River, and riding in her husband's boat at Canyon Lake and Rockport.
Michelle was an animal lover her whole life. As a young girl, it was not uncommon for her to bring home any and every stray animal she passed on the way home from school. Her beloved pets kept her company through the years and were as much family to her as her sister and brothers.
Above all, Michelle was a loving, caring person and a good listener. She was very nurturing, very motherly, and lived her life in way that made you want to be a better person. She will be greatly missed for her wonderful sense of humor, her loving embraces, and enthusiastic coordination of family events.
She leaves behind her love and legacy to her husband, Dean Michael Diebel; her son Dylan Michael Diebel; her parents, her brother J.J. Torres Jr. and his fiance Karen Cole, and her brother Eduardo Torres, Sr.; sister Celeste and her husband Richard Davey; mother-in-law Anita Diebel, brother in-law Todd Diebel and his wife Petra Bowman-Diebel, as well as 7 nieces and nephews, one grandniece, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A rosary will be prayed for her on Thursday, April 4th, 2019 at 6:30pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on 4603 St. John's Way in San Antonio, Texas, 78212. Family will be present at St. John's to receive family and friends starting at 5:30pm.
