Always larger than life, Mike brought much to every table he sat down at; most people did not forget meeting him. His passing leaves a tremendous void, especially for his wife Susan, who has been at his side for 25 years, and his son Chris.
We are grateful that Chris' son Cameron got to know "Crawdad" as he really was, before his poor health got the better of him over the past few years. He had battled the burdens of his earthly body since he was a young man, and he always refused to allow pain to limit him, until finally he couldn't fight it off any more.
We are extremely grateful for the sensitive and outstanding care he received at the Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital and the Texas Transplant Institute. Without the amazing people we encountered there, especially Dr. Preston Foster and Dr. Juan Palma-Vargas, we would have lost Mike so much sooner.
Rather than having a solemn service, Mike requested that we throw a big party after he left no surprise there!. We are tentatively planning on March 27, but those interested in joining us can contact Susan or Chris for more details.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Transplant Program. Make checks payable to the Blue Bird Auxiliary, write Transplant Program Donation on the check and mail to Blue Bird Auxiliary, Transplant Program Donation, PO Box 29600, San Antonio, TX 78229. All funds are used to benefit transplant patients.
We also would love to have you share your thoughts, memories and comments on the Porter Loring website. And, even though Elvis has left the building, we have no doubt that we'll be talking about him and being reminded of him for the rest of our lives.
