

Mildred Darlene Rogers died on Monday, October 6, 2008. Born September 24, 1934, in San Antonio, TX, Mildred Darlene was the daughter of Helen L. Fikes and Walter F Sauer and the sister of Robert Lee.
She grew up in San Antonio, attended Highland Park Elementary, Thomas Nelson Paige Junior High, and Brackenridge High School.
She met her lifelong friend Jimmie Ruth Dunham Eash in second grade.
On October 16, 1952, she married Harold Eugene Rogers of Kannapolis, NC, whom she met while he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston.
They relocated briefly to North Carolina after the birth of their first son, Mark 1953. In 1954 they returned to San Antonio, where they lived and gave birth to four additional sons, Doug 1956, Russell 1958, Keith 1962, and Tim 1965.
Darlene spent most of her time raising her five sons, and when she was not raising her own children, she was helping raise the children of others.
She served as Preschool Director for Trinity Baptist Church from 1965-1983. Then served as the Director of Manor Baptist Church's Child Development Center from 1983-1996.
After retirement, Dee Dee the name used by her grandchildren, enjoyed working on the family genealogy and was a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution NSDAR, the National Society United States Daughters of 1812, and the Continental Society of Daughters of Indian Wars.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Harold Rogers and his parents Lorene and Robert Pennell; her parents Helen and Walter Sauer; and her brother Robert. She is survived by her sons and their families: Mark, wife Kay Parkhurst Rogers, and son Kyle and wife Vanessa Braun Rogers; Doug and his children Jessica, Austin, and Travis Rogers; Russell Rogers, his daughter Chrissi and her husband Asher Fink, and their son Caleb; Keith, wife Crystal Frost Rogers, and children David and Elizabeth; Tim and his children Blaine and Dalton Rogers; brother-in-law Kenneth Pennell, wife Charlotte, and nephews George and Kevin; and sister-in-law Betty Gene Sauer, wife of brother Robert.
The family suggests that memorials be sent to the Harold and Darlene Rogers Endowed Excellence Fund at Baylor University, Waco, TX.
