Mildred Lily Sanders, lovingly known to some as “Millie,” passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 17, 2025, at her home in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 93. A devoted mother, cherished friend, and beacon of warmth, Mildred’s gentle spirit lives on in the many lives she touched.
Born on May 10, 1932, in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, Mildred was the daughter of James E. and Mildred L. Stephenson, and sister to seven brothers, one of whom was her twin brother Clyde. She met the love of her life, Robert B. Sanders, marrying him on February 23, 1952. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and resilience and raised three children born from 1953 to 1957.
Mildred’s intelligence and organizational skill led her to work as an office administrator before co-founding Sanders Legal Publishers with her husband in 1970. She played a crucial role in the family business until she relocated to San Antonio in 1985. Throughout her life, Mildred remained active in service—she was a steadfast member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Women’s Relief Society, where she found community and purpose in helping others.
Whether reading, solving crossword puzzles, sewing, crocheting, or playing solitaire, Mildred found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Friends and family remember her open heart, unwavering caring nature, and commitment to the people around her.
Mildred is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert; her sons, Robert L. Sanders and Craig L. Sanders; and her parents. Mildred is survived by her daughter Sharon L. Harris, grandchildren Katie, Victoria, Steven, Adam, Douglas and Coleman and great grandchildren Scarlett and Neko. Though she endured tremendous loss, her strength and compassion were unyielding.
A memorial service to honor Mildred’s life will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7420 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX 78240, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mildred is terribly missed by all her family and friends, whose lives are brighter for having known her.
