Lily as she was known to those close to her, was an extremely hard working woman. She did work for a while at AAFS on Lackland, but her greatest work was the care she took in taking care of her family. Raising her 4 children, taking care of her mother when she was diagnosed with Cancer and later moving with her husband Raymond to Tennessee to care for his mother during her battle with cancer as well. And when her sister became ill from diabetes she went to Detroit to tend to her for 6 months. She took on these labors of love without second thought or hesitation.
Lily’s kind heart and loving soul did not just extend to her immediate family, once on a trip with Raymond they came upon a large car accident, upon pulling over and offering aide, Lily and Raymond realized most of those involved only spoke Spanish. Without second thought Lily began translating and offering words of comfort to those as they awaited for the first responders to arrive. One little boy in particular was very upset and her motherly instincts kicked right in holding and speaking to him to calm him. That moment lives in Raymond’s heart and mind forever, and that moment encompasses all of Lily’s beauty and grace.
When she wasn’t working hard in giving care to those she loved, she enjoyed traveling. She was always ready to take her brother and sister in law to the casinos. She also loved collecting anything with elephants. But the thing she loved the most was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Lily has now reunited with her mother Eva, father Jose, her sister Melinda, and brothers Jose and Rodolfo. She leaves behind her loving husband Raymond, sons David and Larry, daughters Nereida (Nelly) and Rubie. 7 granchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She also had a very close bond with her sister in law Rosa.
